The best matcha place in Bratislava, Slovakia for ceremonial matcha iced lattes, warm lattes and matcha tea

Best Matcha Spots in Europe: My Favorite Cafés Across Cities

Whoever knows me knows this: matcha + Justi = a match.

It’s my go-to drink, my cozy ritual, and pretty much my favorite travel companion. Whether I’m exploring a new city or just wandering around for some me time, I’m always on the hunt for a good matcha (and a pastry to go with it — but that’s another sweet topic we’ll definitely get into someday!).

But it’s not just me — matcha has been booming around the world, especially here in Europe. The demand has grown so much in recent years that even some matcha producers are struggling to keep up, particularly in Western countries. With its rising popularity in wellness cafés and aesthetic coffee shops, Europe is quickly catching up to what Japan has known forever: matcha isn’t just a trend — it’s a lifestyle!

So if you’re searching for the best matcha spots across Europe (and I’ll keep updating this post as I go!), here’s a list of my favorite cafés — whether you’re after the creamiest iced matcha or just a peaceful corner to sip and slow down.

 “matcha isn’t just a trend — it’s a lifestyle!

So… What Is Matcha?

Matcha is a finely ground powder made from green tea leaves, usually grown in Japan. Unlike regular green tea, with matcha you’re actually consuming the whole leaf, which means more nutrients and a steady, calm kind of energy (no coffee crashes here!).

It’s rich in antioxidants (hello, glowing skin), supports focus and clarity, and honestly just feels like a little ritual of self-care in a cup. Most high-quality matcha comes from regions in Japan like Uji, Nishio, and Shizuoka, and there are different grades and types. You’ll find:

  • ceremonial grade (usually brighter and more vibrant)
  • culinary grade (a bit more bitter, often used for baking or smoothies)

Some cafés also use single-origin matcha, which is made from one specific region or farm, while others use blends from different regions for a more balanced flavor.

And while the classic hot matcha is always a winner, matcha is honestly one of the most versatile ingredients out there. You can enjoy it iced, with plant-based milk, shaken into lattes, whisked in traditional bowls, blended into smoothies, baked into cakes, or even mixed into cocktails (I recently tried a matcha gin sour!). There are a million reasons to love it — and that’s what makes discovering new matcha cafés across Europe so fun and popular.

Why People Love It (Including Me!)

  • Packed with antioxidants that support metabolism and cell repair

  • Provides a calm, focused energy thanks to L-theanine (no jittery caffeine crash)

  • Boosts mood and supports the immune system

  • A great morning ritual that feels both mindful and nourishing

Matcha can be enjoyed hot or iced, plain or with milk (my favorite is with coconut milk!), and now cafés are getting creative with mango iced matcha, yuzu matcha, matcha affogato, matcha croissants… you name it!

My Favorite Matcha Spots in Europe (So Far…)

I’ll be adding more cities and spots during my travels, so feel free to save or bookmark this post for your next trip.

🇬🇧 London, UK

If there’s one city that knows how to ride a trend and turn it into an aesthetic lifestyle — it’s London. Matcha cafés are everywhere, and the options are endless:

  • Jenki (multiple locations) – Try the seasonal special Pistachio Tiramisu Matcha Latte — it’s creamy, bold, and honestly really good. They have multiple locations, some are takeaway-only, while others have indoor seating.
  • Frothee – My most recent matcha find! This place opened just two months ago, and their matcha specials menu is really great! If you love sweet and foamy, try Salted Vanilla Einspanner!
  • Matchado – A hidden gem if you’re serious about high-quality ceremonial matcha.

  • CUP + LID – Aesthetic and minimalistic interiors, and rich matcha flavor. I’ve tried Matchamisu with white chocolate and tiramisu cream! Extra thick and foamy matcha!

  • Tab X Tab – absolutely amazing place for brunch and matcha in London! Try the Floral Fizz matcha with tonic.

  • How Matcha – A whole café dedicated to matcha? Yes please. Matcha lattes, matcha desserts, matcha everything. London’s prettiest matcha bar with beautiful interior (pink and green vibes).

  • Matcha Mochi Cafe – Japanese-inspired with a minimalistic beige interior vibe, great for remote work. Their iced mango matcha was too sweet for me, but they have many other options. Also, make sure to try matcha basque cheesecake! (The only thing I didn’t like was that the staff was not the friendliest…)

  • Blank Street (multiple locations) – perfect for matcha lovers who like to try new tastes, they’re always coming out with fun new combos and seasonal flavors. Also perfect if you’re with someone who prefers coffee!

  • Grind – they focus more on coffee, but they serve also a classic matcha latte. Besides, you can get their ceremonial matcha powder and super cute accessories — like their Peanuts collab cups (yes, that white dog).

🇱🇺 Luxembourg City, Luxembourg

  • Do For Love – a specialty coffee spot, but their iced matcha latte is so good! Cozy, minimal interiors with both indoor & outdoor seating. You can also grab a pastry to go with your drink, it’s a great place for a peaceful break in the middle of the city.
  • Lloyd Coffee Eatery – a lovely brunch place that also serves different matcha lattes. They play around with seasonal flavors, especially in summer.

🇸🇰 Bratislava, Slovakia

  • Konomi Organic Matcha –  one of my favorite places for matcha in all of Europe! This place is just so perfect! The moment you walk in, you feel calm, balanced, and instantly welcomed. Going there feels like a little ritual — you get recharged just from the ambience alone. And the matcha is to d*e for!! So many options from iced, classic matcha lattes to traditional teas… Their matcha is ceremonial grade, so you know you’re getting the real deal. I always go for the ceremonial grade 1 — strong, rich, and absolutely dreamy. Try this place and let me know, because I’m sure you’ll fall in love too!!
  • Matchiareň – a cute and colorful matcha place in the heart oh Bratislava! They have a huge variety of matcha drinks from iced, hot matcha lattes to matcha lemonades, and even desserts. It’s a casual, friendly spot that feels like a fun matcha break while exploring the city.

  • Matsu Premium Tea & Coffee – cozy matcha spot with many options for your drinks, besides it’s a lovely place to work remotely. It’s calm, with a more traditional feel, and they serve smooth, high-quality matcha.

🇱🇹 Vilnius, Lithuania

  • Yugen Tea (Vilnius) – this place gives me the same feeling as Konomi in Bratislava! You feel that yin and yang kind of calm the second you walk in. It’s more than just a tea spot to grab and go, it’s a full experience. The interior is so peaceful, and it’s the perfect place to slow down and reconnect with yourself. They focus more on tea rituals, but they also offer matcha in different forms. One of the most unique things? You get to make your own tea using traditional tools (they guide you through it!), and afterward, they even serve a little salad made from the used matcha leaves. It’s one of those places that really makes you appreciate the ceremony behind every sip — definitely not your average “grab-and-go” kind of café.
  • mon. (Vilnius)
I love this one too! The matcha here is always delicious, and they play around with flavors, so there’s often something seasonal on the menu. Plus, their pastries and cakes are SO unreal. It’s a perfect cozy corner for a sweet break and a good dose of matcha magic. Besides, it’s a very comfy place to work remotely!
  • Pylimo KIRAS (Vilnius)
A colorful spot with a chill vibe (outside & inside seating), they make a really nice matcha latte with flavors (I always go for an iced one). Also, this is a vegan place, so they have many vegan desserts and plant-based milk options. Great if you’re wandering around the city and want something calm but delicious!

“appreciate the ceremony behind every sip

I could honestly talk about matcha all day, its cozy rituals, the energy it gives, the beautiful cafés, and all the new places I’ve discovered (and still dream of visiting!). Matcha isn’t just a drink for me — it’s a little ritual. A moment to pause, take a breath, and enjoy something good for your body and mind.

I hope this little list helps you find some of the best matcha spots in Europe, from charming cafés to take-away city favorites. And if you have a place I must try, DM me on Instagram and I’ll make sure to try it! I’m always up for a new matcha tasting!
